Self Defense Classes in Georgetown Texas!
(10 minutes North of Round Rock)

Our classes focus on three main areas: conditioning, technique refinement, and fighting applications.  Through repetition we program our bodies to respond automatically and subconsciously to incoming threats. The result is Self Defense that actually works when you need it.

Ving Tsun, the system we teach, is an efficient and highly effective system of self-defense in which a student can become competent in a relatively short time.  Ving Tsun's specialty is close contact combat, using powerful punches and kicks with simultaneous defense.  Students learn to deliver knock out power, while staying relaxed whenever possible. Ving Tsun training develops proper body structure, posture, and reflexes based on centerline theory rather than relying on physical strength alone, allowing smaller people to overcome bigger stronger opponents.

Most self defense programs focus on tricks or canned responses to generic attacks.  At our school we focus on students gaining their own experience of which techniques work for them based upon their own body structure.  By practicing those techniques in a variety of situations, with different training partners, and high repetition, a student develops confidence in their ability to actually defend themselves.

Fighting Ability

At our school, fighting ability is really just a by-product of good  training. For most people, learning how to fight is the only reason why they begin training in the first place. However, many will eventually come to believe that the fighting aspects become less important and will continue training for various other reasons - personal mastery, health benefits, etc.

For actual fighting ability, a student can stop their training after two solid years. Ving Tsun is "overkill" when it comes to developing fighting abilities. The science, theories, and the solid training of an advanced VT student are more than enough to come out ahead in an average street fight.

Our Academy is ideal for anyone because our instruction uses natural movements and requires no previous knowledge in martial arts. Every student is taught as an individual with regard to their degree of knowledge, natural ability, personal habits and interests. We personalize instruction by making each student’s progress depend upon their own habits and willingness to succeed. Our students develop a new feeling for their body and an awareness of their inherent strength. Confidence is heightened and a deeper sense of self-awareness is attained through 2-person training.

The study of martial arts is primarily a physical experience. Personally delivering a punch bears little resemblance to reading about a punch, or watching another person deliver that punch. It is an experience all its own, not available to be duplicated in any other way.  Power, ability, practicality, and a host of other ideas are examined in the physical study of that experience.
